Police: No one charged for two murders in Hattieville on Saturday

By BBN Staff: On Saturday morning, two men were gunned down in Hattieville, Belize.

The first to die was Ronnie Anderson, 26. Just before 10 o’clock he was riding his bicycle in the Belizean American New Site area when someone approached from behind and opened fire.

Ten minutes later Kenrick Danderson, 45, was gunned down near the bus stop, a stone’s throw away from the Hattieville Police Station. The gunman quickly fled on foot before police could capture him.

When asked for motives police indicated that one of these murders are related to a previous shooting in the village. However, police say that they have no motive for the other murder.

Several persons have since been detained pending investigations. Police are currently reviewing cameras near the bus stop to determine the identity of one of the shooters.

In recent years several people have lost their lives in Hattieville. According to police, this is the result of an ongoing rivalry between two groups in the area.
