BNTU joins NTUCB in tomorrow’s demonstration in Belize City

Posted: Wednesday, February 19, 2020. 6:39 am CST.

By BBN Staff:  A memorandum from the Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU) dated February 18th, 2020, and issued to the Ministry of Education informs that its members will be “fully engaged” in a march and rally to be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020, in Belize City.

The BNTU noted that the event is being held by the National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) in an effort to highlight demands for change for better governance, transparency, and accountability in Government spending leading up to the next general elections.

The march will commence at 9 am from Constitution park and will go through downtown Belize City, over the swing bridge and culminate with a rally at the memorial park.

The memo ends by asking the Ministry for support so that teachers are free to exercise their right to participate.
