John Briceno says ‘Enough is Enough!’

Posted: Wednesday, February 19, 2020. 11:18 am CST.

By BBN Staff: PUP Leader, John Briceno, this morning made an appearance on Channel 5’s Open Your Eyes and among the many issues he discussed were the scandals plaguing the current UDP administration since it was elected to office in 2008.

Briceno spoke about the way the administration defends members of Cabinet that are involved or implicated in scandals and said that the Belizean people are now saying that enough is enough.

The PUP will host a massive demonstration on Sunday, February 23, at 11:30 a.m. in Belize City and Briceno is inviting all Belizeans to join.

“This is not a PUP issue, this is a Belizean issue,” Briceno said.

Briceno said that the PUP has 17 groups working on policies and the 4 major goals of the next PUP government will be to reduce poverty by half in 10 years, reduce the trade deficit by half in 10 years and to create employment opportunities for women and youths, and emphasize on citizen security.

The National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) is hosting a demonstration tomorrow along with other unions including the Belize National Teachers Union.

Briceno said that the unions are hosting their own demonstration because the unions’ constitution doesn’t allow them to join with a political party.

“There is a great dissatisfaction with the UDP government,” Briceno stressed.
