Posted: Friday, February 21, 2020. 3:11 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Belizean lifeguard, Shane Pascasio is being hailed as a local hero after he reportedly sprung into action to save the life of an elderly man on Wednesday night.

Ulrick Young, 61, was driving his vehicle that night when it dove into the sea sometime before 7 on Wednesday night and Pascasio moved swiftly into action.

On his personal social media page, Pascasio described the fact that he was coincidentally there during the same time it happened as being “ God sent.”

Pascasio further shared that he was on a fishing trip at the time when he saw what happened and jumped into action, performing CPR on Young.

Pascasio says that he has been certified to conduct CPR by the YWCA.

YWCA issued a statement congratulating Shane for using his lifeguard training to save a drowning man.

“Mr. Pascascio’s heroic actions are a testament to the fact that our people are inherently good and when we pair this goodness with life skills, we are doing all of humanity a huge service,” YWCA noted.
