Elderly woman and man shot, man succumbs minutes later

By BBN Staff: Shortly after 10 o’clock on Saturday night, gunshots rang out in the Rio Bravo Crescent area of Belize City.

When the shots stopped, Joyce Edwards, 61, and Ezekiel Usher, were both left with gunshot injuries.

They were transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where Usher died while receiving treatment. Edwards remains in a stable condition.

Police revealed that Edwards was merely driving her vehicle in the area when she was struck. Usher, on the other hand, was socializing in a yard when two men on a motorcycle rode up and opened fire.

Police have not yet disclosed a motive but did indicate that the target was Usher who is known to police.
