New York Times lists Belize as a “must visit” travel destination for spring break

Posted: Wednesday, February 26, 2020. 10:12 am CST.

By BBN Staff: As tourists from the United States look for places to travel to this Spring Break, travel-writing pieces are published daily making suggestions. Belize has been listed in many of those travel writing pieces including a new article published this week by the New York Times.

In the article, “Spring Break: Where to get the biggest bang for your buck,” travel writer Amy Tara Koch explored a number of travel blogs and based her recommendations on the blogs that had the best reviews for sunny destinations, cruises, and skiing trips.

Koch placed Belize alongside Mexico, and established tourism giant in the region, as the best places in Central America for travelers this Spring Break. The article recommended eco-lodges in Belize that are under the Francis Ford Copolla umbrella, which includes Turtle Inn in Placencia, the private island Coral Caye, and the Blancaneaux Lodge in the Mountain Pineridge Reserve. Koch recommended these locations following a review of a blog written by Shawna Owen of Huffman Travel.

As the end of Belize’s tourism high season (the month of April) fast approaches recommendations from reputable media such as the NY Times will play a vital role in continuously exposing Belize to US travelers, which make up around 67 percent of visitors to Belize, according to the Belize Tourism Board.
