Belizean authorities intercept drug plane loaded with approximately 70 bales of cocaine

By BBN Staff: Early this morning Belizean authorities intercepted a loaded drug plane in an area near the Coastal Road with help and information from Mexican counterparts.

The Gulfstream G2 model jet was found loaded with approximately 70 bales of suspected cocaine based on pictures BBN has observed. The drugs were found packed tightly in the plane’s body, where seats were removed from the interior to fit the packages of drugs.

BBN understands Belizean officials may have detained the plane’s pilot and crew. The bust is certainly the largest in recent memory, and one of the only instances of police responding to and intercepting a loaded drug plane in recent times as clandestine plane landings have seemingly increased in recent months.

Police have yet to issue any official information on this latest drug plane bust.
