Sister of Canadian man slain in Belize says he loved living here

By BBN Staff: Days after the gruesome discovery that 79-year-old Canadian national James Slemp had been murdered, his sister Kathye Lacoursiere, told international media that he “loved” living in Belize.

Lacoursiere said that Slemp, who had been living in Belize for about 15 years, enjoyed living in Belize because he was a severe arthritic, so the warn weather was therapeutic for him.

“He really loved it there,” she told CBC news.

She also noted that her family had wanted to come to Belize, but he cautioned her against it, stressing that it was too dangerous.

Slemp’s body was pulled from a creek in the Fresh Water area of Hopkins days ago. He had been decapitated. Reports are that the prime suspect in the crime is a former farmhand.
