By Aaron Humes: The double murder on Saturday night has rocked the twin towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena, and municipal authorities have responded.

Town Mayor Earl Trapp, his councillors and staff released a statement saying they are “saddened and shattered by the heinous murder that took place in our peaceful and developing community last night. The devastating news has left all of us torn and devastated. Our deepest condolences go out to the families who lost their loved [ones] by the heartless murderer.”

The Council announced plans for an emergency meeting to discuss how to make sure residents are safe and businesses protected along with the Police and Ministry of National Security, and pledged to “work with all of you as our community members to send a strong message as one of the most peaceful places in this country, that we will not allow anyone to engage in destroying the lives of our hard-working community members the way they wish.”
