By BBN Staff: Out west police have detained one man in connection with last night’s double murder.
He is reportedly a twenty-six-year-old man who resides in San Ignacio, Cayo.
As we reported last night there was a shooting at the Tia Kong Supermarket on the Joseph Andrew Drive in town.
The first victim was identified as security guard, Shawn Kevin Vasquez, 32.
The second victim was identified as Marva Rivera, 32.
Police investigations revealed that the proprietor of the store, Richard Rivera, 33, had closed the shop around 9 p.m.
He, his wife and Vasquez were then walking away from the building.
As the Riveras entered their vehicle they heard gunshots ring out.
Richard realized he had been shot in the stomach while his wife was shot in the shoulder.
He rushed her to the San Ignacio Town Community Hospital to receive medical treatment.
Unfortunately, his wife passed while undergoing treatment.
Police visited the scene and checked the immediate area where they reportedly found the detained BDF soldier in a parked SUV.
