By BBN Staff: This morning, the Office of the Director of Health services issued a statement advising the public to continue to prepare on an individual, family and community basis by taking the necessary precautions.
The statement was issued as a Covid 19 advisory (novel coronavirus)
The office stresses 3 key factors that can complicate any successful management of an outbreak:
1. Fear – while we acknowledge that we are to be concerned, being fearful won’t necessarily help. Please remain attentive to the official sources of information and when in doubt, ask your local health care provider
2. Panic – can be triggered by false information so again, when in doubt seek the official sources of information and avoid spreading rumors
3. Stigma – is usually fueled by false and/or inadequate information. We need to recognize that COVID-19 is not specific to a certain ethnic group nor is it now in a specific geographic area.
The Ministry of Health continues its national surveillance activities.
