Office of Director of Health Services issue update on Coronavirus cases in Latin America

Posted: Sunday, March 1, 2020. 5:59 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Office of Director of Health Services issued an update informing that there is no confirmed case or suspected case of coronavirus ( Covid 19) that Guatemala has reported.

There is also no suspected case under quarantine in Chetumal as is circulating on social media.

The following countries in the region have confirmed cases:

Mexico – 5 (all imported and linked to Italy) – there is currently NO community transmission of COVID-19 in Mexico

Dominican Republic – 1 (imported case)

Ecuador – 1 (imported case)

Brazil – 1 (imported case)

All the above have links to European areas that have an on-going transmission of cases

The office says that it is noting the increase in cases in the US as some don’t seem to have a link to any confirmed cases and as such, it warrants that we continue to get prepared individually and at the community level. BBN also reminds readers to follow Belize’s official Ministry of Health page for official updates in relation to the ongoing health crisis.
