Teen boy held in reported sexual assault

By Aaron Humes: A Cayo District teenager is being held on suspicion of sexually assaulting a ten-year-old girl.

According to police, the child’s mother went out early on Saturday morning to buy and left her daughter sleeping in bed. On her return, she found a teenage boy in the room with her.

Asked what he was doing there, he gave a nonsensical answer and fled the scene. The mother found the child’s clothing and bedding disturbed and called her child’s father, who came to the house with the police.

The teenager was subsequently detained and the matter remains under investigation.
