By BBN Staff: The Belize Territorial Volunteers (BTV) issued a statement today calling on the Government of Belize to issue a public apology to Jean Baizar, the mother of Major Radford Baizar, who heard about her son’s suffering and death on the streets of Belize City.“Of all the things the Government of Belize has taken from its citizens, robbing us of our HUMANITY is the greatest crime of all! Their failure to acknowledge and honor, in a respectful and timely manner, the dedicated servicemen of the Belize Defense Force who perished when their helicopter went down is a crime against HUMANITY,” the BTV noted.
In addition, the BTV questions if Belizean citizens are even aware of an active involvement in the war on drugs in our country?
The BTV says that the men and women of the Belize Defense Force are servants unto our country.
“In Belize, their position is better defined by the word servitude—the state of being completely submissive to and controlled by someone more powerful.”
The BTV says that the government’s failure to publicly notify the citizens, and more importantly the family members of these four men, is an act of dehumanization.
“The family members and loved ones of Major Adrian Ramirez, Major Radford Baizer, Corporal Yassir Mendez, and Corporal Reynaldo Choco will need genuine, deep support during their time of bereavement while they suffer intense grief, compounded by emotions of shock and outrage,” the BTV expressed.
The BTV demands an immediate public apology to these families for their failure to give respectful and socially appropriate notification in private to the wives, children, mothers, brothers, and sisters who loved these men.
