By BBN Staff: The Government of Belize through the Ministry of Human Development, Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation, and in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank, proposes to embark on a project entitled “Community Action for Public Safety II”.

The main objective of this project is to increase the capacity of the Ministry to coordinate and deliver violence prevention services in Belize City.

In order to achieve this objective, the Ministry intends to construct a wraparound service center on Mosul Street (formerly Batty Bus Terminal) that will amalgamate the various departments of the Ministry.

This will allow the Ministry to comprehensively and more efficiently serve the community of Southside Belize City.

The Ministry invites the residents of Southside Belize City to a community consultation to be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at 5:30 p.m. at the Gateway Youth Center.

The purpose of the consultation is to provide residents with information on the project, the services to be offered, and the environmental and social impacts the project may have.
