By BBN Staff: The Black Orchid Resort, a proud Belizean-owned establishment nestled away in the sleepy jungle charm of Burrel Boom and with origins connected to the La Ruta Maya River Challenge, is celebrating its 15-year milestone on March 5 and to mark the occasion, the resort is offering a 15% discount on accommodations and its conference center facility for the entire month of March.

Mr. Douglas Thompson, owner of the Black Orchid Resort, told BBN the resort is excited to celebrate its momentous 15-year milestone and looks forward to many more years of continued service in the tourism and hospitality industry. He noted that the 15% promotion currently underway is extended to Belizeans and tourists alike. And while the resort is situated in a rain-forest setting and well-known for its luxury amenities, suites, villas, restaurant and pool, its location on the banks of the Belize River makes it an ideal spot to watch the Ruta Maya River challenge as it makes its way into Belize City.

Its proximity to the river also provides an opportunity for a unique riverboat tour along the Belize River. Tours are offered at day and at night, for you adventure seekers and cater to groups of up to 8! Crocodiles and monkeys are often sighted during the guided tours, which span an estimated duration of two hours. Tours cost about US $55 per person plus GST.

Thompson also encouraged Belizeans to take advantage of the resort’s no-fee policy on using the pool provided guests patronize the restaurant or bar. There is a gourmet restaurant on-site as well as the bar, gift shop, and a conference center available for meetings and press events. Designed to be eco-friendly, the resort is elegantly integrated in a rain-forest setting on the banks of the pristine Belize River. Guests can enjoy a free continental breakfast as well as the use of bicycles and high-speed wireless internet.

Every room comes with powerful air-conditioning, a private bathroom, and cable TV. The on-site restaurant serves up a mouthwatering menu of both local and international dishes. Guests have the option of dining by the pool or on the patio.
