Ministry of National Security says report on chopper crash to be made public soon, refuses to address speculation chopper was shot

Posted: Tuesday, March 10, 2020. 4:51 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Following a press briefing this afternoon, the Ministry of  National Security said that it will upload a preliminary report to its website of the chopper crash that killed 4 BDF soldiers, which was prepared by military personnel from Honduras that assisted with the investigation.

The Ministry said that the official report is confined to the technical aspects of the helicopter only and that separate reports are expected to be filed by the Department of Civil Aviation and even the company that manufactured the helicopter.

Minister of National Security, Michael Peyrefitte, said that there is a separate investigation being conducted into whether or not all protocols were adhered to.

“If anyone was found to be in dereliction of their duty there will be consequences,” Peyrefitte said.

When asked if there was any evidence the chopper was shot down as suggested by pictures of the wreck which show almost perfectly rounded holes in the side of the chopper, Peyrefitte said he would not address any speculation and would stick to the prepared report.
