Newspaper in Hawaii features Belize in travel writing piece

Retire and Start a New Life in Sunny Belize

By BBN Staff: The Honolulu Star-Advertiser, the largest daily newspaper in Hawaii, has recommended Belize to travelers looking for fun in the sun.

The paper published an article this week entitled  “5 spots for sunshine seekers” where travel writer Lynn O’Rourke Hayes, puts Belize alongside world-renowned tourist destinations such as Hawaii, the United States and Mexico.

The article tells travelers that Placencia is the place to visit in Belize and makes a special highlight of the award-winning Turtle Inn in Placencia.

“A holiday trip to this Central American outpost offers an extraordinary bounty of experiences packed into a short time frame. This trip offers a chance to explore ancient caves, get immersed in Mayan culture and kayak through freshwater lagoons. You can also snorkel above the second largest barrier reef in the world; hang out with spider monkeys, loggerhead turtles, toucans and kingfishers; and watch the sunset,” the article said.

Belize has been featured in an average of three travel writing pieces per week since the start of 2020, and to date, all have been positive. A large portion of those travel writing pieces has been from Canadian media outlets, which falls in line with efforts being made by the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) since last year to increase Belize’s presence in the Canadian market.
