Ministry of Foreign Affairs discusses bilateral relations with Government Ministries

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belize hosted a Maximizing Bilateral Relations Workshop today, March 11.

The new Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry, Ambassador Annielou Burns welcomed the participants from various government ministries.

The objective of the workshop was to share best practices with public officers from government ministries and dialogue on the importance of fostering and sustaining effective international cooperation through bilateral relations.

The workshop focused on how the Government of Belize coordinates its national and foreign policies with a view to improving the livelihoods of all Belizeans through its different national development strategies and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Discussions were had on how to maximize cooperation opportunities, challenges faced in accessing and responding to cooperation, the importance of diplomatic high-level visits and the importance of reporting and improving interpersonal skills. Dialogue also addressed challenges faced in identifying, fostering and sustaining cooperation in an increasingly competitive world.

In attendance were officials from the ministries of Economic Development, Agriculture, Finance, Immigration, Tourism, Energy, Foreign Affairs, and Attorney General’s Ministry.
