By BBN Staff:  Leader of the Opposition, John Briceno issued a statement this afternoon confirming that he has accepted the invitation by the Prime Minister to co-chair the high-level working group in good faith.

“We are undoubtedly facing a national crisis, not just a health crisis, but an economic crisis, a social crisis, a crisis of the people. We stand always prepared to work in service of and act in the best interest of the Belizean people,” Briceno said.

Briceno says that he looks forward to a constructive process in which ideas, plans and proposals to manage this impending crisis will be fully engaged and reserve their right to raise the issue with any instance where the people’s interest is not duly served.

The Prime Minister made the announcement today in his press conference regarding the coronavirus pandemic.
