By BBN Staff: Punta Gorda Mayor, Ashton Mackenzie, issued a statement this morning warning all store owners about the hiking of prices for necessities as the country faces Covid-19.
Mackenzie warns that the trade licenses will be revoked.
“While we are not the Professional Standards Bureau a basic analysis of your invoices for items bought in bulk ( their price and the number in each case ) should give us an understanding of whether your prices are fair or not,” Mackenzie stated.
The Mayor informed that the council will be conducting a number of sting operations to evaluate prices and establishments considered to be engaged in such activity will be penalized .
