Guatemala confirms 6 cases of Covid-19

By BBN Staff: Guatemala’s President, in a press conference this morning, confirmed that 6 people have tested positive for covid-19 in the country.

The patients are presently in quarantine. Two of the cases are relatives of the elderly patient who died yesterday of the virus.

On Friday, March 13, the country confirmed its first case, the patient is a 27-year-old man who returned from Madrid, Spain.

In an effort to stop the spread of the virus, Guatemalan president, Alejandro Giammetti announced that the borders will be closed to foreigners for the next 15 days.

Of those traveling by land, only Guatemalans will be allowed to enter.
