Travelers arriving from Guatemala to be screened for COVID-19 at Belize Western Border

Posted: Monday, March 16, 2020. 8:52 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Belizeans and foreign travelers entering Belize from Guatemala this morning were stopped at a tent just before reaching the Belize Immigration Office.

The travelers were told to wait for a doctor to arrive to begin a process of screening before entering Belize.

On the Guatemalan side of the border, Guatemalan authorities have also established screening measures.

Guatemala saw its first patient die of coronavirus yesterday and so far 300 persons have been quarantined.

Belize currently has no case of covid-19 and the Ministry of Health continues its aggressive surveillance activities.
