Commissioner of Police says gang members don’t want to work!

Posted: Wednesday, March 18, 2020. 2:11 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: In light of the recent spike in crime and government’s response in the form of a state of emergency, many continue to speculate the root causes of violence.

According to Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, many have linked the lack of opportunities to crime.

However, he refuted those claims citing work done by the police to gain employment for gang members.

He also cited work done by the Belize City Council and the Conscious Youth Development Program.

According to Williams, these gang members refused the opportunities made available to them.

This attitude is what has led to the gradual decay of society as he explained, “They don’t want to work. They want to make a life by selling drugs and robbing people.”
