Guatemala’s Covid-19 cases increase; Nicaragua and Salvador now confirm cases

By BBN Staff: Guatemalan President, Alejandro Giammettei, today informed that the country now has 8 confirmed cases of Covid-19. On Sunday, a man died after testing positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, the Nicaraguan president informed via the country’s national television station that the country now has 1 confirmed case of coronavirus. The patient is a 40-year-old Nicaraguan man that recently visited Panama.

In a press conference held minutes ago, Salvador president, Nayib Bukele also confirmed to El Salvador that the country has 1 patient with a confirmed case of Covid-19.

Before the case of Covid-19 in El Salvador, Bukele had implemented travel bans and locked down the country.

Bukele also informed Salvadorans that with relation to basic utility bills, those will be deferred for 3 months. Bukele also froze payments to mortgages, personal loans, and credit card bills for 3 months without interest.

Bukele further called on his residents to unite and to respect the measures taken to avoid the further spread of coronavirus.
