By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Human Development, Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation informed that effective Saturday, March 21, all daycares will suspend operations until Monday, April 20 when schools are scheduled to reopen.
The Ministry says that the decision comes under the advice of the Ministry of Health and in line with the school closures announced by the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, and Culture to reduce the potential spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Facilities in which children congregate such as schools and daycares can be particularly fertile places for the spread of contagious illnesses, with babies and toddlers especially susceptible to the spread of infectious diseases.
As it is the recommendation of health experts to minimize this risk, parents are advised to seek the services of individual caregivers.
“The difficulty caused by this decision is acknowledged, but these precautions are being taken in the best interest of our children and communities as we institute all necessary measures during this global pandemic,” a statement from the Ministry said.
