House discusses additional bills at meeting

By Aaron Humes: The House of Representatives will debate three additional bills at this morning’s meeting, now moments away.

The Prevention of Corruption in Public Life Act amendment proposes to add a member to the Integrity Commission from and representing the National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB).

An amendment to the Treasury Bills Act proposes to increase the maturity of Treasury notes from ten to twenty years.

And in multiple amendments to the Supreme Court of Judicature Act, the Chief Justice will be granted powers to make practice directions in instances of public interest and national security; the appropriate Minister can make regulations for procedures of prison video link appearances in the courts for both criminal and civil cases and petitions for divorce by consent are to be presented to the Court as with other such petitions.
