By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that misinformation is being circulated concerning the entry, transit and exit of Guatemalan nationals to and from Belize.
The Embassy of Guatemala in Belize has informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that a few Guatemalan nationals are being repatriated to Guatemala with transit through Belize.
In doing so, the Embassy has coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the Ministry responsible for Immigration.
The Ministry further confirms that Georges de la Roche, the Ambassador for Guatemala to Belize, has fully respected all pertinent regulations including the most recent travel advisory, which does not prohibit the entry of Guatemalan nationals into Belize.
The Belize western border is closed to entry into Belize for all persons except Belizeans; however, Guatemalan nationals seeking to return to Guatemala are allowed to exit Belize through the Belize western border.
