By Aaron Humes: Belizean Prime Minister Dean Barrow told the House of Representatives today, Belize appears to be the last country standing in Central America as COVID-19’s march goes on. Nicaragua and El Salvador have now confirmed cases as of Wednesday.
To keep it that way, the National Oversight Committee meets on Friday to discuss ramping up measures to keep the virus out.
The Prime Minister also announced that all Government Ministers would forego and donate a month’s salary to the relief fund being set up, while he himself would take no further salary or allowance from the National Assembly for his remaining time in office, and the CEO’s of statutory boards would be asked to do the same.
The Budget will also include the additional allocation of funds for COVID-19 relief and assistance.
