Belize Tourism Board surveying hoteliers to seek those willing to share facilities as quarantine centers

Posted: Friday, March 20, 2020. 1:12 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: While Belize has no confirmed case of COVID-19 as of today March 20, as indicated by the Ministry of Health (MOH), it is still very important to take the necessary preparations and to implement adequate measures to ensure that Belize is prepared.

The COVID-19 National Oversight Committee lead by CEO Yashin Dujon of the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation has requested that a survey of hoteliers be carried out to determine which hotelier would be willing to contribute their facilities as isolation/quarantine centers.

BTB says that the ideal scenario would be to confirm a room stock in each destination including San Pedro and Caye Caulker.

Hoteliers can email at [email protected].

PAHO has indicated that it is sending specialists to Belize so this would be an opportune time to have these centers identified, visited and a decision be made whether they can be quarantine centers.
