By Aaron Humes: The Corozal Free Zone and Port Authority have issued separate but similar circulars regarding operations affected by closure of borders.
The Port Authority says maritime ports are closed to all traffic with the exception of cargo ships and petroleum tankers and that a recent report suggesting otherwise is false.
As a precautionary measure, any Belizean returning from the following restricted countries must be placed in isolation and required to follow the dictates of the Ministry of Health. These are China, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, South Korea and all of Europe. Nationals of these areas who have travelled in the last thirty days will not be allowed to land in Belize or in the Free Zone.
The Free Zone also remains open and employers and employees are asked to follow the guidelines on social distancing, handwashing and so on.
