By BBN Staff: A message sent by the German Ambassador Harald Klein and addressed to all German nationals, not residing in Belize urges German nationals to leave Belize as soon as possible.
Inciting the measures set in place by government officials to avoid the spread of Covid-19, the Ambassador warned that travel restrictions can change quickly depending on the situation.
“As Embassy, we strongly encourage you – all German citizens not resident in Belize – to consider leaving the country as soon as possible due to the travel restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). If you do not act now, you may not be able to return home for the foreseeable future,” the letter noted.
In addition, the ambassador urged all Germans to contact their airlines to make arrangements as ‘things are moving fast’.
The ambassador said that border restrictions can change very quickly.
Currently, the Philip Goldson International Airport (Belize City) and the Northern Land Border (Santa Elena Border) between Corozal and Chetumal, Mexico are open. Belize has closed the western, southern and all other small border crossings.
