Many airlines have cancelled flights and Southwest Airlines informed that it is cutting 1,000 international flights.
The flights to the Caribbean and Mexico that are being cut are a whopping 25% of its operations.
The cuts begin on Sunday, March 22.
“During this unprecedented time, we will continually assess the real-time, market demand for Southwest’s service with the goal of cancelling flights that have alternate flights or route options and that affect the fewest number of customers,” a statement from Southwest said.
The airline is cutting flights after several countries implemented strict border restrictions due to rapid spread of Covid-19.
The airline hopes to resume the flights by May 4.
