By BBN Staff: The Office of the Director of Health Services issued a statement saying that it is aware that at least one private entity is conducting rapid testing for COVID-19.
The Director of Health Services says that they have consulted with regional counterparts and note that no rapid test has been validated for use in terms of COVID-19.
“We are following the reports coming out of the US in terms of screening options and once we know which ones have been validated for use in regards to a high specificity and sensitivity we will be publishing that data,” the statement noted.
Health officials say that for now, they are not recommending any rapid test for COVID-19.
Up to date, Belize remains free of any confirmed case of coronavirus.
