By BBN Staff:  Earlier today, a group of Belizean students returning home contacted BBN to share their experience at the Northern border.

The students were reportedly asked to wait at the border for Belizean health experts to arrive and were not denied entry to the country, as they had previously reported.

Director of Immigration, Debra Baptist Estrada, told BBN that Belizeans from around the world will be allowed to come home and that all Belizeans coming in will be screened by health professionals. Thereafter, health professionals will ask them to self-isolate or go under quarantine if necessary.

Belizeans out of the country are assured they will not be denied entry into their country once returning home. Estrada noted that the government’s resources and medical personnel at entry points have been overwhelmed in the last few days but are doing their best in addressing the situation.
