Blowout leads to fatal crash for North Creek resident

Posted: Tuesday, March 24, 2020. 6:55 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Police continue to investigate, but preliminary information points to a tire blowout sending a vehicle crashing into a parked trailer this morning, taking the life of one Belize City resident and injuring two more.

The red Mitsubishi Outlander found by police from Hattieville this morning between miles 12 and 13 on the George Price Highway was severely damaged after colliding with a white 40-foot trailer, the property of Softy Paper Factory, which has been parked in the area for quite some time.

Forty-three-year-old Dorian Anthony Pook of North Creek, Belize City was lodged between the driver and front passenger seats and died of his injuries. His companions, identified as Gary Trapp and Dawn Myers, sustained minor injuries and have been treated and released from the hospital.

However, both say they were not driving and so police are trying to confirm if it was Pook in the driver’s seat.
