By BBN Staff: Belize Electricity Company (BECOL) a subsidiary of Fortis Inc. (Fortis”) has donated $200,000 to the national coronavirus (COVID-19) response, which the Ministry of Health says will be used towards acquiring equipment for health workers.

BECOL Chie Executive Officer and President, Lynn Young, said that the company was pleased to offer the support to the ministry, given the devastating effect that COVID-19 is having globally.

“We must act together and do the best we can to reduce human suffering while we position ourselves to get back on our feet as soon as possible,” Young said.

CEO in the Ministry of Health, Dr. George Goff, said that the donation will go a long way in procuring much-needed protective gear for medical and support staff, who are on the frontlines of the national response.
