By BBN Staff: The business community in Belize has banded together to donate medical supplies to Cuba to assist with the country’s fight against the global coronavirus (COVId-19) pandemic.

The Government fo Belize (GOB) announced this afternoon that the business community’s donation was valued at more than $8,000 and included items such as soap powder, bar soap, bath towels, sheets, garbage bags, cleaners, and disinfectants. GOB said that the donation is being shipped to Cuba with the support of TAG Airlines.

The donation, which was made as a symbol of solidarity between Belize and Cuba comes at a time where Cuba is deploying a team of 60 doctors to assist Belize with its fight against COVID-19. GOB also noted that Belize and Cuba are celebrating 25 years of diplomatic relations this year.
