Ministry of Finance enacts interim cost saving measures amidst covid-19 pandemic

By BBN Staff:  A memo from the Ministry of Finance today informed that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry has decided to freeze creation of new posts, employment and re-employment, fillling of vacant posts, payment in lieu of vacation leave, all new requests for advances, approval for allowances, workshop, seminars and non-essential travel and non-essential purchasing of supplies.

The Ministry also noted that overtime hours must be kept at a minimum.

The Ministry encouraged public officers to devise their own family plan.

The memo noted that special consideration will be given to healthcare workers.
