By BBN Staff: Police are investigating the circumstances that lead to a boat fire in Belize City last night.

Reports are that the boat, a 20-foot vessel with the name “King Triton”  belonging to fisherman Jamal Tablada, was inside the yard of one Winfield Baptist when it caught fire. Baptist said that he noticed the fire through a window sometime after 9:00 p.m. Baptist called for his neighbors to assist him and they, in turn, called the Belize Fire Service, which eventually extinguished the blaze.

The boat was valued at $35,000, meanwhile, the damage to it was estimated at $3,000. The vessel was not insured. Investigations are ongoing.
