Posted: Saturday, March 28, 2020. 3:18 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Belize Sugar Industries Ltd. (BSI), a member of ASR Group, announced that they will provide a contribution of BZ $250,000 to Belize’s national COVID-19 Relief.

Country Manager, Celestino Ruiz, says, “Our donation will support the Government’s crucial work to protect the health and safety of all citizens as we join together to fight COVID-19. We believe we must all do our part as we unite to face this unprecedented global crisis.”

BSI is also helping implement practical ways to support industry stakeholders to ensure their health and safety, as they recognize the vital importance of the sugar industry to Belizeans, providing food security and vital home-grown electricity.

BSI says that it has joined coordination efforts together with the government, cane farmer associations and sugar institutions to achieve this.

BSI encourages all individuals to safeguard their wellbeing at home and in compliance with the Government of Belize (GOB) and Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines such as proper hygiene and social distancing protocols.
