By BBN Staff: Ministry of Health Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero has confirmed Belize’s 3rd case of COVID-19 via the Ministry’s official Facebook page minutes ago.
According to Dr. Manzanero, the third confirmed case is that of a male with recent travel history to the US and arrived in Belize on March 20th. He had been asymptomatic but developed mild symptoms on March 25.
He was swabbed on March 27th and today testing confirmed his sample was positive for COVID-19. The sample was one of nine screened today.
Manzanero said the patient remains in self-isolation and the MOH surveillance team has been activated to conduct its mapping exercise. There was no mention made of the location of the patient.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow will be making a statement tomorrow regarding measures to be implemented in preventing further spread of the virus.
