By Aaron Humes: Attorney Arthur Saldivar says he will seek redress for “grave infractions” he said took place during his arrest on Saturday.
Saldivar addressed the charges in a live video posted on Saturday night after being released from the Belmopan police station.
Accused of spreading false news that a group of persons were denied entry to Belize, Saldivar conceded they did not actually enter, but maintained there was a chance the persons involved were infected and thus could have infected others. He insisted he was not trying to spread alarm, merely to provide information.
Saldivar stated he believes the Government does not have the resources necessary to fight COVID-19 and he is simply drawing attention to it.
Saldivar insisted to viewers that this was not about him, but about the safety of all and if he can help one person be safe, he would do it again as long as he stayed alive.
