By BBN Staff: The Government of Belize will enact a countrywide state of emergency on Wednesday at midnight.
The new measures taken by the Government is to prevent any spread of COVID-19 in the country after Belize has confirmed its 3rd case.
The Ministry of Education issued a memo today informing all educators that since there will be a state of emergency, classes cannot resume in April and the start date is yet unknown.
The Ministry says that during this difficult and worrisome time, it is encouraging teachers, parents, and students to practice regular hand washing and social distancing.
Educators are encouraged to engage students in activities that are meaningful and to avoid quizzes, tests, and exams during this stressful time.
“ Encourage them to read and bond with parents in activities such as cleaning, cooking, sewing, and other important life skills,” the memo noted.
COVID-19 is a pandemic affecting the world and everyone can do their part to avoid the spread.
