PM assures abundance of monies for COVID-19 health fight

Posted: Tuesday, March 31, 2020. 10:42 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: In support of his assertion that Belize is more than adequately funded for health needs in the COVID-19 fight, the Prime Minister listed a variety of sources already tapped.

Monies from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), and part of the donations from Lord Michael Ashcroft add up to more than $20 million, to be detailed by Dr. Marvin Manzanero later on in terms of spending.

The International financial institutions have agreed to reprogram established sources totaling more than $100 million in a matter of days and weeks, fulfilling his pledge to double the funds available for economic recovery – food and livelihood assistance.
