Prime Minister explains plans for national state of emergency and shutdown

By Aaron Humes:  Prime Minister Dean Barrow says that when the state of emergency goes into effect on Wednesday, April 1, there will be three categories into which each business will be placed.

The first category is a greatly expanded list of businesses that will be closed; second are those that will be restricted including Government offices, which will close at 4 p.m.

The others are classified as essential, but the P.M. warned that those asking for their businesses to be declared such must be serious about customers’ health. “Either we are serious or we are not,” he said, and the Opposition agrees.

Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte will shortly go into details after updates from the Leader of the Opposition and Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero.
