Citco discounts property taxes, waives rental fees for next three months

Posted: Wednesday, April 1, 2020. 3:23 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Belize City Council has announced plans to assist City residents whose finances are impacted by COVID-19.

Having recently boasted in their audit of eschewing discounts in payments of property taxes and built a substantial cash balance as a result, the Council is now offering 15 percent discount on residential property taxes and 10 percent on commercial property taxes for the period April 1 – June 30, 2020. Payments can be made electronically and statements can be delivered by email to avoid personal visits to City Hall.

And the Council will write off three months’ worth of rental fees for maeket vendors and street peddlers whom it says will be most affected by COVID-19.
