Ministry of Health informs of procedure to manage respiratory illness in Belize district

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health informed today that effective immediately, ALL patients with respiratory illnesses such as cough, cold, fever, sneezing body aches and pains should no longer go into their regular health facility.

The procedures are as follows:

1. Please call ahead to your respective clinic to discuss your case with the triage nurse.
2. Please inform the doctor and nurse of the following:
3. Have you traveled outside of Belize in the last 30 days?
4. Have you been in contact with someone who traveled outside Belize in the last 30 days?
5. Have you been in contact with anyone who tested positive for COVID-19?
6. Do you work in tourism, immigration, customs, or another frontline industry?
7. The triage nurse or doctor will inform you of what you should do next.

Patients with other symptoms and other medical needs should call their respective NHI or Public Clinic during normal working hours for further advice.
