UDP clarifies misinformation about Boots Martinez leadership application

Anthony "Boots" Martinez (Port Loyola Area Representative)

Posted: Thursday, April 2, 2020. 11:08 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Social media went abuzz earlier today when word circulated that Anthony “Boots” Martinez had applied for the post of UDP leader.

In a signed letter by Martinez dated March 26th it claimed that of all the applicants, he was the most experienced and senior that had the wherewithal to lead the UDP to a fourth term.

In the letter, it reads that he was a member of the party when nobody else wanted to be.

The letter goes on to state that he is a man of the people that has, in other words, paid his due to his party.

Furthermore, the letter indicated that Martinez would have regained his Port Loyola seat by way of convention or diplomacy ahead of a double election to be held next year.

While the letter triggered an earthquake, its magnitude was insignificant as the UDP issued a formal statement indicating that it was untrue.

According to the statement, only five persons had applied for the post up to the deadline but none of the applicants were Martinez.
