Belize City Council extends prayers for colleague

Posted: Friday, April 3, 2020. 6:03 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Belize City Council issued a statement earlier today extending prayers for an employee of the Council who was tested positive for Covid-19.

The Council says that it is working closely with the Ministry of Health to complete the mapping exercise.

The City Council also denounced the social media posts that revealed the identity of the patient.

“It is inexcusable that persons saw it fit to deny our colleague’s right to privacy. We strongly condemn this action!” the council said.

The Council calls on the relevant authorities to exercise confidentiality and sensitivity in conducting the mappings.

The Council encouraged all Belizeans to practice social distancing and take the necessary precautions to protect themselves.
